Dowd Announces He Will Race The 2007 AMA/Maxxis National EnduroCross Series

7/14/2007

Los Angeles, CA (July 12, 2007) - John Dowd has announced today that he is scheduled to attend all three rounds of the AMA/Maxxis National EnduroCross Series. Dowd, a former AMA Motocross champion, placed first at the 2006 Maxxis EnduroCross after a very close battle with Monster/Kawasaki's Nathan Woods. In 2005, Dowd finished second behind KTM's David Knight. Both years Dowd proved that his motocross skills, combined with years of trail riding in the Northeast, made for the perfect combination to conquer the technical EnduroCross track.

"EnduroCross is just a crazy event," explained Dowd, the current EnduroCross Champion. "It's one of those races where you just never know how you are going to end up. You can have the lead one moment and lose it the next. To win all three events in the series will take quite a bit of skill and a lot of luck, but I'm up for the challenge."

The 2007 AMA/Maxxis National EnduroCross Series starts in Denver, Colorado on September 29. It then moves to Guthrie, Oklahoma on October 6 with the final round inside the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on November 16 & 17. The three race series will boast a $40,000 total purse payout, which includes individual purses for each event, along with a $10,000 Maxxis EnduroCross Series fund paid out to the top riders in the series. Scoring for each race will be similar to that of an AMA supercross with points earned based upon the riders finishing position. The Las Vegas round will serve as a Double Points event... the overall winner of the series will be crowned the AMA EnduroCross Champion. In addition to the Expert class, there are four amateur classes available to compete in - these classes will also be awarded individual AMA #1 plates.

The website for the AMA/Maxxis National EnduroCross Series has been completely updated with entry forms, schedules, information about the events and the purse schedule. Each race venue is limited to 200 riders, so those serious about this championship series are encouraged to sign up early. All the information can be found on line at www.endurocross.com.

The 2007 AMA/Maxxis National EnduroCross Series is brought to you by:
Maxxis Tires, FMF Racing, Geico Insurance, Monster Energy Drink, Elka Suspension, Pro Taper, Alpinestars, Rekluse, Motion Pro, Ride Now, Pole Position, Thumpertalk, All Access, Rage'n Toy Haulers, Christini, Cycle News, Fastway, Engine Ice, KBC Helmets, Scott USA, Wiseco, Yamaha, Kawasaki and KTM.

DCS Financial Group Signs John Dowd

6/8/2007

Exclusive semi-retirement race deal

Malden, Ma. - June 05, 2007 -- Former 125 West Supercross, and current defending AMA Maxxis Endurocross Champion John Dowd, will come out of retirement once again to prove that fountains of youth do exist in Western Massachusetts. Dowd, the 41 year old New England legend and all around fan favorite, will try and repeat his 2005 podium success this weekend at Round 3 of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Series. Round 3 is scheduled to take place June 9th and 10th at Motocross 338 in Southwick, Massachusetts. The infamously fast and rough MX 338 race track is known for its edge-of-your-seat racing action.  Sixty mile per hour, 4th gear wide open, side-to-side swapping is the norm every lap at Southwick. Long time mechanic to the stars Kenny Germain is prepping John’s DCS Financial Group/Coastline Motorsports Suzuki RM-Z450, ensuring John’s Factory Connection suspension is completely dialed for the choppy sand track.

DCS Financial Group President Dave Smith had this to say, ”We are very excited to have John on our race team. Like everyone else in the racing community we are in awe of the fact that a 40-year-old guy can race part time and still run top five at a national in the premier 450 Motocross class. The guys a complete savage if you think about it. Every year a few factory riders learn first hand that Dowdy’s still fast when he dusts them at MX-338. From a business standpoint, John makes a lot of sense because we are a financial services company. Ultimately the 30 – 50 year old vet riders are the ones more apt to be thinking about retirement savings, or their children’s college education planning. Not to mention, we expect that John’s fans at 55+ retirement communities everywhere will be tuning in to John’s races on closed circuit TV. (Nah just kidding, but I had to punk him out a little bit. A few weeks ago at Southwick we talked trash about whether he could lap me or not. Needless to say, as if lapping me wasn’t enough, he took his hand off the bar in an effort to biff me off the helmet as he went by.) That’s the kind of rider we want, someone who likes to have fun with the sport.

Our niche is that we market to gear-heads, adrenaline junkies, and basically anyone who enjoys life and has fun. I can assure you that we aren’t your typical Wall Street advisors at DCS. If you’re looking for some uptight advisor in a suit who wears a bow-tie and talks over your head, you may want to look elsewhere.” DCS Financial Group is a full service independent financial services firm offering everything from IRA’s to Life Insurance. In addition to Dowd, DCS Financial Group sponsors local New England pros Josh Jones, Jason and Matt Boron, and top national amateur prospect Jimmy DeCotis. Pretty much retired from racing, Dowd continues to be still deeply involved in this sport by conducting motocross schools around New England and the like. Coming out of retirement for the BooKoo U.S. Open Of Arenacross his Coastline Motorsports Suzuki machine will be sponsored by Mototown, the indoor Motocross track, in Windsor, CT. "I'm planning on running in both Pro classes on that Friday and Saturday night (Feb. 9 and 10) of that weekend," revealed Dowd.

Dowd’s most recent national title came on November 18, 2006 at the Endurocross Championships held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This event was held indoors on a made-made track with water crossing, rocks, logs and dirt to bring an outdoor enduro indoors for a fan friendly atmosphere.
